Can the past ever really be left behind? Imo, Jano, and Marcel are unceremoniously released from Wriezen juvenile detention centre, eastern Germany, after serving sentences for crimes including a shocking neo-Nazi murder. But with no family or work prospects, what life awaits these young men convicted of such violent acts? Daniel Abma’s brave debut film follows from the first day of their release, observing their travails over three painstaking years as each tries to make a new life for himself. Does release from prison really offer the chance for a fresh start? The outside world beckons, but are these young men ready for a world beyond Wreizen?
