A remote village in the foothills of the Pyrenees becomes the centre of a media circus and global gathering as the only place that will survive the end of world. In the lead-up to the prophesied Mayan “doomsday”, Bugarach and its residents are thrown into the international spotlight and forced to cope with outsiders flocking to their safe haven in droves. Combining the apocalypse of War of the Worlds with the absurdity of Waiting for Godot, Bugarach is an existential black comedy that playfully explores hope, belief and the power of storytelling.
