Crossing Borders: In Conversation

This special session presented in partnership with 2SER and Groovescooter explores both the intensely personal and the sweeping political elements of migration, the condition of being a refugee, and the role of the documentarian in illuminating these issues. Four filmmakers give their take on what it means to fight for refuge, rights and recognition, and to be both connected to and separated from family across the globe. Kaveh Bakhtiari (director of Stop-Over) and Khoa Le (director of Bà Nội), join local filmmakers Rihab Charida and Zanny Begg, to discuss how looking through a lens can give us a unique perspective on belonging and identity.

The session will also screen the short films Counting Olives by Rihab Charida and Rights of Passage by Zanny Begg.
