To Matthew, the world looks different. Childhood friend and director Marc Schmidt follows Matthew, observing how, through the lens of autism, he sees a chaotic world and vainly tries to create order. This heartbreaking portrait shows an increasingly desperate man as he in turn rages against and is bewildered by the world. His encounters with outsiders rarely end well, but he tries to at least retain mastery of his home domain. Matthew’s unique ways of dealing with life can only support him for so long though, and the catastrophic resolution will leave you reeling.
