Ornette: Made in America captures free-jazz architect Ornette Coleman’s evolution over three decades. On the occasion of Coleman’s return home to Fort Worth, Texas in 1983, Clarke employs documentary footage, dramatic scenes, and some of the first ever music video-style segments, to return us to his boyhood and then chronicle his subsequent emergence as an American cultural pioneer and world-class icon. Among those who contribute to the film are William Burroughs, Brion Gysin, Buckminster Fuller, Don Cherry, Yoko Ono, Charlie Haden, Robert Palmer, Jayne Cortez, and John Rockwell.
