Is it a human right to have someone to love? Part rollicking road movie, part buddy story with a twist, The Special Need takes Enea and his friends on a road trip across Italy. Enea has autism, which makes meeting girls difficult, and so his friends are on a mission to help him fulfill his desire – expressed often and vocally – to have sex. However, the further they journey, the more questions arise about what he might really be searching for. Warm, charming and poignant, The Special Need addresses the taboo of sex and disability, offering a new insight into the meaning of love.
