Who Needs Another Festival?: Panel Discussion

“An estimate of more than 3500 film festivals exist today. Such a structured and mature field constitutes an interesting domain for studying how new entrants (or late adopters) legitimate their existence and justify the need for yet another film festival.” (Pedersen & Mazza)

Film festivals operate as leading events in the development and promotion of film culture, helping establish the reputation of film professionals, and a meeting place for the film industry, mediating between art and business. Antenna, together with the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC), will bring key players to a session to discuss the role and future of Antenna International Documentary Film Festival in order to create Antenna’s manifesto, which will in turn ensure a bright future.

Moderated by Mitzi Goldman, she’ll be joined by Hussain Currimbhoy (Sheffield Doc/Fest), Joost den Hartog (AIDC), Gil Scrine (Antidote Films), Stefan Moore (Screen NSW), and Mary-Ellen Mullane (Screen Australia).
