Antenna Youth Jury
Five young voices. Six remarkable documentaries. One award.
Documentary at its best challenges, enlightens and surprises us. Now we want to know what young people think.
We’re looking for five Sydney-based people aged 18 to 25 to join Antenna’s first Youth Jury. Whether you’re an aspiring filmmaker, student, critic, or simply curious about documentary, we’d love to hear from you. No film experience is required.

Be part of the festival
As a Youth Juror, you’ll watch six documentaries selected from the Antenna 2027 program, share your ideas, and debate the films with your fellow jurors. Together, you’ll independently choose the winner of the inaugural Antenna Youth Jury Award and present it at the festival’s closing event.
What you’ll receive
- A full festival pass to Antenna 2027 (4 to 14 February, Sydney)
- Complimentary access to DocTalk, Antenna’s documentary industry event
- An introduction to documentary programming, criticism, and jury deliberation
- A session with Antenna’s Artistic Director exploring film curation and programming
- Opportunities to meet filmmakers and industry professionals
- Recognition as an official Antenna Youth Juror
Who can apply?
Anyone aged 18 to 25 and based in Greater Sydney. No qualifications, film industry experience, or filmmaking background are needed. We welcome people with different perspectives, experiences, and interests.
This is a voluntary professional development opportunity. Jurors should be available for an introduction in late January or early February 2027, and for screenings, deliberation, and the award presentation during the festival.

How to apply
Complete our short online application. You can answer in writing or provide a video response using the option in the application form.
We’ll ask you about:
- Why you’d like to join the Antenna Youth Jury and what you hope to gain.
- A recent documentary that really stayed with you and why.
- A documentary you thought could have been more effective or interesting.
- Your interests or ambitions for the future.
- Anything else you’d like us to know (optional).
There are no right or wrong answers. We’re interested in your curiosity, ideas, and individual point of view.
