A deeply personal and music-filled portrait of Cuban icon Pablo Milanés, captured in self-imposed exile during his final years. Co-founder of the Nueva Trova movement alongside Silvio Rodríguez, Milanés was one of the defining voices of Cuba’s revolutionary cultural awakening. Directed by his adopted son Fabien Pisani, Para Vivir intertwines rare archival footage with intimate moments of an aging Pablo in Madrid, reflecting on his life, art, and the fading dream of the Cuban utopia. Featuring moving testimonies and performances from musical legends such as Serrat, Chico Buarque, Harry Belafonte, and Fito Páez, the film charts a journey from youthful idealism to the quiet disillusionment shared by a generation of artists once devoted to the Revolution. Both elegy and celebration, Para Vivir is a luminous tribute to a fearless artist whose life and music became inseparable from the story of Cuba itself.
