Antenna Documentary Film Festival – About Us

Established in 2011, Antenna is Australia’s Intenational Documentary Film Festival; an annual event dedicated to the theatrical exhibition of nonfiction cinema. The program showcases the very best of local and international documentary cinema of the past year, together with filmmakers Q&As, talks, master classes, three  competitions with cash prizes and other audience and industry events.

In addition to film screenings, the festival’s program includes industry development activities, offering an independent and inspiring meeting place for documentary professionals to network, learn and develop their film-making practices and industry knowledge on local and international levels.

Now in its eighth year, Antenna Documentary Film Festival is recognised as one of most prominent platforms in Australia for premiering documentary films.

Year-Round Program

Antenna is launching a new year-round program of screenings and events, showcasing new releases, festival favourites and documentary hits. In addition to the screenings, filmmakers will be in attendance (in-person or via Skype) for post-screening Q&As and discussions. The new program will be launched on Friday 9 March 2018 at Event Cinemas with a special screening of Casting JonBenet, one of the most talked-about documentaries of 2017.  The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director Kitty Green, who will be in attendance – and will be moderated by ABC film-critic Jason Di Rosso.
