Tanya, Tolya, Alex, Sasha, Dima, Denis, and their friends exude the familiar charms of adolescence: fluttering hearts, raging hormones and existential questions. But something else hovers over the lives of these teenagers in Transnistria. Largely unrecognised internationally, their country is a tiny bubble where the asceticism of the Soviet Union is still preserved. Director Anna Eborn follows Tanya and her posse of boys for a year as their relationships shift and change, and they move between picturesque lakes, snowy streets and abandoned buildings. They flirt, fall in love, tease and soul-search, fearful of crossing the line of innocence. The feel created by the beautiful 16 cinematography is somewhere between a dream and a classic coming of age drama.
