After a 15-year absence, Farah returns to Lebanon to care for her ageing father, Mustapha, only to find her city in crisis. In their Tripoli apartment, they attempt to find a common language, but generational differences lead to clashing views, with discussions filled with humour but shadowed by a lack of understanding. Seeking connection, Farah joins Mustapha’s all-male poetry club, where men share classical Arabic poems over sweets. As Mustapha’s health declines, poetry becomes their final means of communication, bridging their divide through verse. Against the backdrop of the 2019 revolution, Farah Kassem crafts a deeply moving cinematic poem—an intimate yet open portrait of her country in crisis.
